Hello lovelies! Happy New Year once again!
My new year is actually officially starting in March cos I am waiting to start a new adventure then. BUT I have been making myself very busy with decluttering! If you've ever read Marie Kondo's books on decluttering, (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo & Spark Joy by Marie Kondo) you will know that she says the quickest way to declutter is to take out all the things you have in one category and ask yourself if it sparks joy? If it does keep it, and if it doesn't discard it or give it to someone else (sell or donate).
Well I've always had an issue with taking everything out as it would always overwhelm me. However, this year, everything has changed yasss!

Here's a list of what I've decluttered!
1. BOXES - Yes you've heard it right..I have issues with throwing away cute packagings. SO I've made it a rule to NEVER keep them ever again. I've thrown away all of them immediately. (see pic above)
2. Clothes - Lots and lots of clothes that I don't wear anymore. Now I only have what makes me feel nice. I still don't wear a LOT of them but I'm very happy with what I own for now. I also made it a point to get rid of clothes associated with sentiments. If you have clothes that your ex gave you, don't wear them anymore. You don't even have to keep it cos it will just remind you of things you don't want to. I got rid of many clothes, all of them donated. Some of them were still in tags cos they're gifts from other people and even duplicates of stuff I already have. My relatives know not to get me "I love *** country" T-shirts anymore cos I just don't wear them.
3. Old electronics - I got rid of my old gaming headphones that broke a long time ago. I got rid of a lot of wires I don't even know what they're for.
4. Old books - I still had heaps of old book collections. All the Harry Potter books, The Lord of The Rings books and even books like the Inheritance series. I finally donated them to people who might want to read them. I probably cleaned out a total of 30 or more books from my room. Which was around 5-7KGs and I needed help to get them downstairs too.
5. Old wallets. I never collected wallets but over the years I've had a few now cos I never got rid of the old ones. I even found old photobooth photos with friends and even an old RM 1! not the gold coin version but the note version. Funny how a value of RM 1 is not the same as it is today.
My room is finally looking like a hotel room. My goal is to make my room look like a hotel room because it looks really cozy and everything is kept neatly away from table tops. I still have to take care of other stuff too like my old perfume bottles. *Still getting the hang of that!* Till then I'll probably listen to some podcasts on being minimalist and detachment to objects.
I love how when you have less stuff, you will value your things more cos you know exactly how many things you have. In my case, I've only been able to do that with jewellery because I don't collect jewelries. So I get very paranoid if I were to lose a pair of my favourite earrings. When you buy less stuff you will also think about the quality over quantity. I always ask myself will I wear this piece of clothing many times before I get it. I will update more soon with pictures!
Thanks for reading my blog and I hope I've inspired you to declutter if you have not already done it!
Stay healthy & happy everyone!
XOXO
Diana
