Hello everyone! It has been way too long since I last blogged. The reason is cos I was going through a lot of life changes when I decided to take the plunge and become a flight attendant/stewardess. My life has changed forever ever since. I still don’t want to give up blogging so I decided to start blogging again slowly. So I wanna talk about how my life has changed and what are the pro’s and con’s of flying around the world.
I took this picture back in Perth by the way! Way back in October 2018. It may seem like a long time ago but to me it seemed like it was just yesterday. The reason why I feel this way is that time flies when you’re flying all the time. Yep.. my roster can get very busy and I’m no longer free on every single weekend like normal 9 to 5 people. Even though I used to work in hotel I was in the sales department and I was in management team meaning I worked a fixed time from 8.30 to 6.30PM minus 40 minutes of lunch break everyday except weekends. I do have friends who are working in the operational team. The difference is that I would be up there in the sky working and working in a pressurised cabin at high altitude is very tiring. In fact when I’m a passenger all I do is sleep even on a short haul flight. So that made my off days even more limited cos I would have to take time to rest during my off days. Especially if I arrive at odd hours.
So I have to give up a lot of things now like hanging out all the time or doing certain things which requires me to be free. I have to find friends who have the same off days as me and when there’s an event my family and friends would have to tell me earlier so I can apply leave. Basically like RSVP.
Being a flight attendant is not as glamorous as it seems but I have been to so many countries which are new to me before I started working for Malaysia Airlines! And I am forever grateful! Most people have the impression that being a FA is just smiling and serving people but that’s not true at all. At times we are the police, firemen, nurse, chef and baby sitter on board. I had to go through 4 months of intensive training which consists of first aid and safety emergency procedures. We have a lot of safety equipments on board and we must know how to operate them during emergency situations.
So there you have it. How my life has changed after being a FA in a nutshell.
The Pro’s
Travel all around the world for free
Exciting new destinations
Fun job
Always maintain grooming
No homework like office jobs
The Con’s
Very tired all the time
No longer free on every weekend
Jet lag from one time zone to another
Health is affected
Dealing with difficult people/situation
I purposedly did not put a picture of me in a uniform because I would always be smiling in the uniform. I don’t want those kind of pictures to get you under an impression that it’s just a fun and easy job cos it’s not just that. I am totally a different person when I’m donning my uniform and when I’m not. Underneath it all we all have to go through some tough times before being well-equipped with knowledge and experience on how to get used to the job.

Here are some countries that I have been to some of them being my first time since becoming an FA!
Singapore
India
China
Australia
Saudi Arabia
Korea
Philippines
Taipei
New Zealand
Indonesia
Thailand
And many more I just can’t recall all of them at the top of my head right now. In a country alone we fly to so many cities as well. All of the destinations I’ve been to are different with their own perks and if you love to travel and you think you can handle a physically demanding and mentally challenging job then FA is right for you!
Till next time!
P.S I’m writing this post in my hotel room at Nanjing, China right this moment!
xoxo
