Hello everyone! It's the last day of January! I'm not sure how I feel about that! January just flew by really fast for me. I have a lot of free time. 28 days of freedom left to be exact before I start my new job! :) So the other day I was trying to explain to someone that I have a friend who is a conscious spender but couldn't come out with the words and so he said the word frugal. The word I was looking for. So since I am very interested in a minimalist lifestyle, I thought I could try to live frugally. You can click on the link here to see the on how to live a frugal life. Here's the list!
I have been really inspired to cook and hopefully also make my own quality drinks at home! I decided to make granola once a week and that will last me about a week. It's way way cheaper compared to buying acai/energy bowls outside. I like to put granola in smoothie bows, eat it as a cereal and even snack on it. It's just so good! I listed the recipe at the bottom of this post for you to try out!

I made this smoothie bowl! It's fun to see what kind of ingredients I have everyday and just make anything I like!
I used my homemade granola, desiccated coconut, almonds, pumpkin seeds, blueberries and strawberries. The base was made out of berry yoghurt, blended peeled pears and frozen strawberries.

Granola recipe
4 Cups Rolled Oats
1/2 Cup Canola Oil (any vegetable oil)
1/2 Cup Honey or Maple Syrup
1/2 Cup Brown or White Sugar
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Essence
Optional - 1/2 cup of Almonds or any nuts that you like.
Just mix in everything together and bake it in the oven for 40mins at 300 F or 150 C.
Last step, after you take it out of the oven, you have a few minutes to break it. Add some dried cranberries or raisins if you like. Let cool for about 30 minutes. Store in a jar or container. Don't close the lid until it's completely cool and you're done! They last for a week.
I prefer to add the nuts or dried cranberries as raw toppings on top of my acai/granola fruit bowl because sometimes I don't feel like eating dried cranberries all the time. It's all just preference.
I hope you give it a try because it's super delicious and easy to make! I think I will probably be making pokebowls in the future too! What I would like to make soon is matcha! I really want my own matcha making set with the whisk, bowl and all because it has been on my wishlist for quite a while it's just that I've forgotten about it. This is also an incentive to make me quit or have less starbucks while also save money! I'm still not sure how that will turn out as matcha powder is expensive! But I hope it will work out. Like say if I buy in bulk or something. It will surely be cheaper as a venti green tea frappe or matcha latte is RM18. Hmm we'll see about that!
Till next time!
